‌Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) is widely used in life, mainly in biological research, medicine and disease diagnosis. PAGE is a commonly used protein separation and analysis technology. It drives the migration of proteins in gel by electric field and separates them according to their size and charge characteristics.

Specific application areas ‌Biological research‌: In genetics, molecular biology and biotechnology, PAGE is used to separate and purify proteins, helping researchers understand the molecular weight and structure of proteins.
‌Medical field‌: In medical research, PAGE is used for drug development and quality control to help determine the purity and active ingredients of drugs.
‌Disease diagnosis‌: In clinical diagnosis, PAGE can be used to detect protein markers in blood to help diagnose diseases such as cancer.
Technical principle ‌The basic principle of PAGE is to separate analytes by passing them through the pores of polyacrylamide gel through electric current. Polyacrylamide gel is polymerized by acrylamide and cross-linker N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide to form a three-dimensional mesh structure gel. By controlling the acrylamide concentration and cross-linking degree, gels of various pore sizes can be prepared for the separation of substances with different molecular weight ranges.
